Phishing Awareness at UGA

Don't be fooled by e-mail scams asking for passwords or bank info.

This is an example of a phishing attempt targeted at UGA. While this e-mail requests you to reply with the information, many phishing scams will include links to web sites that look exactly like the service they are trying to mimick.

Always be skeptical of e-mails requesting personal information. If you are concerned that the e-mail may be legitimate, open your web browser and type in the web address that you would normally use to access your account. Any legitimate service will have visible warnings about needing to update your account. Never copy and paste, or click a link from an e-mail you may be skeptical about. Phishing web sites can often have viruses hidden in the site.
