E-mail Policy

University of Georgia Electronic Mail Policy

The UGA e-mail policy covers various details and limitations involving e-mail, most of which are covered in the Acceptable Use Policy or Privacy Policy. Here are some important details to keep in mind:

Like almost all documents at the University, e-mail is considered property of UGA and bound by Open Records. E-mail is typically not private and can be intercepted in transit. It is important to never send passwords or other sensitive, confidential, or protected information over e-mail.

E-mail use at UGA must be professional and polite. Abuses, such as falsifying a user's identity or affiliation, or using e-mail to distribute spam or network attacks, are strictly forbidden. Accessing another person's e-mail without permission is also forbidden.
